Agnes Māele
I'm Agnes Māele, a proud wife and mother, born and raised in West Auckland. I come from the villages of Fusi Safotulafai and Sapapāli'i. I am Co-founder of LE ALA Movement and a passionate advocate for preserving and celebrating Sāmoan culture through the art of Siva Sāmoa.
I have dedicated myself to learning, performing, choreographing, and teaching Sāmoan dance, with a heart to inspire others through our cultural heritage.
Guided by my Christian faith, I strive to serve with humility, excellence, and purpose while honouring the beauty, values, and traditions of Sāmoa.
Experience
My experience in Sāmoan performing arts includes both traditional and contemporary Siva Sāmoa, with a focus on teaching, choreography and cultural understanding.
2015 – Polyfest:
I competed as Taupou for my college at ASB Polyfest in 2015, making history as the first Taupou from my college to place first.
2016–2020 – Tutoring & Choreography:
From 2016 onwards, I taught and choreographed for Polyfest groups, helping students prepare for performances while developing confidence, discipline and teamwork.
2021–Ongoing – Teaching:
I began tutoring at a Sāmoan dance academy, working with dancers of different ages and skill levels to develop technique, performance quality and cultural understanding.
Alongside teaching, I have continued to choreograph for weddings, cultural events, church programmes and community celebrations, creating opportunities to share Sāmoan culture through performance.
I share my choreography, performances and creative work through @agnes.sivasamoa, where I also connect with individuals and groups for choreography and performance opportunities.
My Vision as Co-Founder & Co-Director
As Co-Founder/Co-Director of LE ALA Movement, my vision is to create a welcoming environment where people of all ages can grow through Sāmoan performing arts. I want to equip students with strong foundations in technique while helping them understand the meaning, values and stories behind what they learn.
Above all, I hope to inspire the next generation to carry our culture forward with pride, humility and respect.
Mālō le soifua maua!

Experience:
2016–2018 – Polyfest:
Alongside Agnes, I tutored Polyfest groups, where we made history by placing first in 2017. This experience strengthened my leadership, teaching, discipline, teamwork and creative development.
2019 – Pageantry:
In 2019, I was blessed with the opportunity to compete in the Miss Samoa NSW Pageant, proudly representing as your Miss Fonoti-Puleamaalii.
Later that year, aligning with God's plan, I was honoured to compete in Pageant of the World as Miss Samoa – Pageant of the World, where I made history as the first Pacific Islander to place in the Top 5.
These experiences strengthened my confidence, sense of identity and purpose while allowing me to proudly represent and share Sāmoa to the world.
2020–Ongoing – Creative Work:
In 2020, I established my YouTube page, Regina Lui-Toso, where I began sharing and releasing Siva performances. Since then, I have continued to create and refine group and solo performances for a variety of occasions.
I was also blessed with the opportunity to be a member of The Afakasi Dance Group in Sydney, Australia, performing at various events and celebrations. I have also choreographed for birthdays, weddings, couple dances, church performances and other special occasions.
My Vision as Co-Founder & Co-Director
My vision as Co-Founder/Co-Director of LE ALA Movement is to create a safe space where people can discover, develop and express themselves through Sāmoan performing arts.
I want to nurture students not only in skill and technique, but also in confidence, discipline, character and purpose. Above all, I want to honour God through the gifts He has given us while helping preserve and celebrate our Sāmoan culture for generations to come.
Through LE ALA, I hope to inspire people to take pride in who they are, understand where they come from and use their gifts to uplift others.
